Our school day runs from 8.30am to 3pm.
Although each school day is slightly different, children have opportunities to learn as a whole school during Collective Worship, as a class group with their class teacher for sessions such as Circle Time and Maths, in smaller groups during sessions such as daily guided reading and as individuals during focus activities.
Opportunities for ICT and Outdoor Learning are available throughout Child Initiated Learning sessions, which last at least 45 minutes three times a day (these times are called “choosing time” in Reception and “planning time” in Year 1 during the Autumn Term). Break time is from 10.30-10.45am. During this time, children in Reception to Year 2 have access to fruit. Fruit, milk and water are available as a snack throughout the day in the Reception Classes. We serve lunches in four sittings between 11.45am-1pm. This is staggered for different year groups so children will have a full hour, with thirty minutes to each lunch and thirty minutes in the playground.
Children have opportunities to develop their own interests through all the different areas of the curriculum. Throughout the day, there are many different experiences for the children, including opportunities for sport, music, art, reading, writing, maths, technology, role play, model making and small world play. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in Reception. In Year 1, 2 and 3 we follow the National Curriculum while working flexibly to allow pupils to gain independence and take ownership of their learning.
Wrap-around care is provided, in the form of a breakfast club and after school club, please click here to find out more.
