Safer Eating in School
Following the implementation of the EYFS Safer Eating Policy recently, we would like to advise parents on a few of the important points from this document to keep all children safe during meal times.
- Shape and texture: Food must be prepared to reduce choking risks. This includes cutting, slicing, or quartering food (e.g., sausages, grapes, cherry tomatoes) lengthways, avoiding small, round, or firm pieces.
- Environment: Remind children to sit upright during meal times and never walk or run while eating.
- Supervision: Staff will be pro-active in their continuous supervision of children at meal times, ensuring foods are sliced or cut to prevent choking, but please try and do this at home before children come to school.

Our team plan activities and routines to incorporate life skills such as encouraging healthy eating, respect and teamwork.
The children continue to learn social skills such as sharing and negotiating through playing with favourite toys such as lego.
